Television Magic
Doing a 5 minute magic segment for kids on a local TV show
every Saturday for two years in the late 70s inspired me to study
TV production. In 1983 I graduated from Evangel College in Springfield,
MO with a degree in Broadcast Communications.
THE
SECRET PLACE
During college I spent my summers working with STAR Ministries in Florida
on a new Spanish show called Lugar Secreto. After graduation I went to
work there full time and began producing the English version, The Secret
Place. Besides building sets, writing and producing, I played the role
of Captain Alan doing magic tricks to illustrate the days
theme on several hundred shows. Even though Lugar Secreto was taped during
the 80s it continues to air across Latin America and I discovered
a big fan club when I went to Guatemala last September.
RECREO
GRANDE
During the four years I lived in Costa Rica, I was a regular on a national
TV show called Recreo Grande (The Big Recess). This show was
taped with a live audience and aired Saturday mornings. They always had
a colorful cast of characters and Tia Flory, the producer and star of
the show was a lot of fun to work with. Each year when I travel to Costa
Rica, they expect a guest appearance or two.
THE
SOLID ROCK KIDS CAFE
My most recent TV venture was The Solid Rock Kids Café produced
for the Rochester Assembly of God church and aired locally as well as
in the Twin Cities. Production ended in 1998 but the program continues
airing in Rochester Saturday mornings at 9 on Charter Cable Channel 10
and on the Sky Angel Satellite Network.
